Scholarships Awarded To Three Orange County Students

Raleigh NC (I-Newswire) June 29, 2011 - National Pawn is proud to announce the awarding of scholarships for students in the Orange County Schools (OCS). OCS scholarships are in addition to two new scholarships endowed through the Durham Public Schools Scholarship Foundation and the two scholarships National Pawn has been awarding to students through the Garner Education Foundation since 2009.

"I am a product of the public school system and I needed financial assistance to attend college,” said Bob Moulton, owner of National Pawn. "I am proud to be giving back in multiples what was given to me. This is how the system should work."

The OCS administration and selection committees at Cedar Ridge High School and Orange High School dedicated the National Pawn endowments to students who exhibited outstanding character, resolve and dedication to academic excellence.

“We are extremely grateful to Mr. Moulton for his generous gift to our students,” said Mr. Armond Hankins, Principal of Orange High School. “This scholarship affords us the opportunity to recognize and reward students who have dedicated them to pursuit of academic excellence.”

This year, Orange High School awarded the National Pawn scholarship to Victoria Knight, who will be attending Wake Technical Community College, and Salma Rezk, who will be attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Cedar Ridge High School awarded the scholarship to Erin Johnson, who will be attending the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

“This scholarship allows our school to recognize students that have overcome difficult situations, while maintaining their academic studies,” said John Wheeler, Principal of Cedar Ridge High School. “Ms. Johnson has exhibited great character throughout her time at Cedar Ridge and I believe she will accomplish magnificent things. This award will help her achieve all that she was meant to achieve.”
