Satco Communication Introduces VSAT Inexpensive Telephone Calls

It is important to understand how VSAT Technology works. Advances in information and communication technology as well as a focus on digital platforms have seen the emergence and development of technology such as VSAT.

"VSAT" is an acronym for "very small aperture terminal", and represents exciting technological opportunities. It is actually a 2-way satellite station which can be ground station or a maritime station complete with a dish or dome antenna and a transceiver unit. Most antennas vary from 60 to 120 cm in diameter when using VSAT communication with Ku band. The aperture terminals refer to tiny opening angles that measure less than one degree and provides for the terminal to send and receive signals.

How the technology works

This particular satellite communications system works by positioning one satellite in an orbit about 36000 kilometers above earth. This satellite will basically follow the earth's rotation and will therefore be fixed relative to the earth. The transponders on this satellite point to certain regions of the earth, which is also known as spot technology. The signal then becomes stronger when it is focused on these predefined areas also known as footprints. This technology is excellent for communication purposes and is provided by large companies such as Satco Communication.

According to the Mark Holmes. "2013 has been a banner year for the satellite industry with companies performing well and progressive next generation strategies starting to take shape."
