Las Vegas, Nevada (I-Newswire) April 24, 2012 - Some people call Andrea Marcovicci the “female Sinatra”; she does have a way with casting a spell over her audience. Andrea’s vocals are as delightful as her comments and stories. Andrea created a nostalgic atmosphere by personalizing each of her songs to make them come alive. Some of Andrea’s stories were as exciting as her singing.

Andrea remarked, “Tonight is all about music, movies and memories. Let’s celebrate their themes and the effect of movies on our lives. The melodies from these movies are the conduit to our memories. That’s the ride you are on, let’s jump on board!”

These were the songs in the famous classic films, the ones we remember throughout the years.

One touching scene was Andrea’s tribute to Fred Astaire. She held his picture lovingly while singing “Dance with Me” from Irving Berlin’s movie “Top Hat” (1935). Andrea explained, “First I’ll be Ginger Rogers than I’ll be Fred Astaire.”

Another musical selection was “Long ago and far away” from the film “Cover Girl” (1944), starring Gene Kelly and Rita Hayworth.

One of Andrea’s earliest childhood memories were in the 1950’s when her father, a busy doctor, took her to see an afternoon movie. Since this was the only time it stood out in Andrea’s mind. She added, “The prices were .50 cents for adults and .25 cents for children.”

Andrea’s choice of the up-beat happy song “Good Morning” from “Singing in the Rain” was a perfect change from the love songs (1952).
She sang “Good Morning” from “Singing in the Rain”, a movie about the silent film era changing to the beginning of talkies, with Debbie Reynolds and Gene Kelly and Donald O’Conner”.

Andrea sang the touching Academy Award winning song “Hi-Lili, Hi-Lo” from the film “Lily” (1953), with Leslie Caron and Mel Ferrer, nominated for five Academy Awards. It was the story of a little girl who ran away to a circus. Andrea commented, “For all my life the circus was out there waiting for me”.

Andrea was a fan of classic films, “I love the old, old movies not only because of the singing and dancing, it was the dialogue. I won’t say I was immune to the charms of Marlin Brandon. I love Freddy (Fred Astaire) along with Cary Grant and Jimmy Steward.”

There are many reasons for Andrea’s success as the “The Queen of Cabaret”, her golden tones, charm and ability to know how to choose just the right songs for her show.
