San Diego Spirits Festival Proudly Announces Legacy Partnership with MOTAC

The Museum of the American Cocktail (MOTAC) has joined the San Diego Spirits Festival (SDSF) as Legacy Partner. MOTAC is a division of the Southern Food & Beverage Museum (SoFAB) Institute.

San Diego Spirits Festival 2014 takes place Friday-Sunday, August 22-24 at the Port Pavilion on Broadway Pier. The three-day weekend begins with an Industry Gala benefitting The Museum of the American Cocktail.

MOTAC celebrates the American cocktail and develops its craft, field, and market through exhibits, programming, and a range of media. SDSF, now in its sixth year, is a nationally acclaimed celebration of cocktail and culinary culture that promotes the spirits and related industries, showcases its leading professionals, and highlights the cocktail and culinary revolution taking place in California's second largest city.

ABOUT SAN DIEGO SPIRITS FESTIVAL
The San Diego Spirits Festival (SDSF) is a nationally acclaimed celebration of cocktail culture and is the premiere West Coast spirits festival. Featuring bartender competitions, tastings, seminars, and parties, the festival offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity for brands to be supported by and gain recognition among San Diego's cocktail and culinary community and beyond.

SDSF showcases the talented bartenders and chefs shaking up San Diego's vibrant cocktail and culinary scene. It's all about Cocktails, Cuisine, and Culture, set against sun-drenched San Diego Bay. The Festival celebrates the industry and all that it encompasses: advancement, professionalism, education, product innovation, market launches, entertainment, and camaraderie. SDSF brings together people from across the country and overseas to participate over the week leading up to the three-day weekend festival where the industry and public can mingle, be entertained and educated, and make new friends and contacts.

ABOUT THE MUSEUM OF THE AMERICAN COCKTAIL
The Museum of the American Cocktail (MOTAC) celebrates a singular cultural icon. Founded by craft cocktail pioneer Dale DeGroff and several of the world's most passionate cocktail authorities and historians, MOTAC advances the profession and expands consumer knowledge of mixology, all while stressing the importance of responsible drinking. It preserves and develops a rich facet of American culture and provides educational resources to both professionals and enthusiasts in the fine art of crafting the cocktail through a series of mixology seminars conducted by the world's foremost authorities and offered in locations across the country and the world, among them Los Angeles, New Orleans, New York, and Washington, DC. It also works to broaden career opportunities in the spirits industry and encourage greater participation by women and others under-represented in the field.

MOTAC is a division of the SoFAB Institute, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit cultural enterprise that documents and celebrates the food and drink of all cultures through exhibits, programming, and a range of media. Because everyone eats, all aspects of food and drink—culture and geography, anthropology and history, economics and politics, law and policy, media and the arts, science and technology—reveal the state of the world. SoFAB, home to the SoFAB Center for Food Law, Policy & Culture, SoFAB Culinary Library & Archive, Southern Food & Beverage Museum, Museum of the American Cocktail, and SoFAB Media, is among the nation's leading institutions studying food and drink.
