San Diego Self Storage Launches Toys For Tots Holiday Toy Drive

San Diego Self Storage is sponsoring its 14th annual holiday toy drive benefiting Toys for Tots by collecting toys at each of their 17 locations throughout the greater San Diego region

San Diego, CA (I-Newswire) October 26, 2012 - San Diego Self Storage (SDSS) is sponsoring its 14th annual holiday toy drive benefiting Toys for Tots by collecting toys at each of their 17 locations throughout the greater San Diego region beginning Thursday, October 18, 2012. The Marine kickoff event aboard the USS Midway will take place on Saturday, December 1, 2012 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm and admission is free with a new, unwrapped toy. Festivities include raffles, prizes, and refreshments. The SDSS Toys for Tots booth will be open from 11:00 to 3:00 pm that day. The drive will continue with a collection at the San Diego Charger home game scheduled for Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Qualcomm stadium. During the toy drive, all San Diego Self Storage facilities will also be conducting raffles for a $100 credit toward a tenant’s storage rental (new or existing tenant); to enter the raffle, individuals may simply sign up when dropping off a new, unwrapped toy. The collection ends at 6:00 p.m. on December 18th with final toy delivery on December 19th and the drawings will be held at each SDSS location on December 20th.

Terry Aston, "We’re launching our collection campaign this year well in advance to provide enough lead time for families to sign up for toys prior to the holiday season. The list is updated weekly through the deadline date." The US Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program delivers new toys at Christmas, with the purpose of sending a message of hope to needy youngsters that will motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders (toysfortots.org). Last year 136,976 toys were delivered to 126,395 children in the San Diego county area. The campaign has been running for approximately 64 consecutive years.
