Could these ringtones be the future of workplace ringtones? The first and only dedicated website available on the internet that offers non musical "safe for work" ringtones launched quietly in October, 2010.

Charlottetown, PE (I-Newswire) October 24, 2010 - SFW Ringtones announced today that they released the first website dedicated to non musical ringtones that are meant to be used in a workplace setting. Jeff Matheson developer of sfwringtones.com noticed, like many other people before him, that cell phone ringtones were quickly becoming a distraction to many office workers.

“After searching Google for some ‘safe for work’ ringtones, there didn't seem to be a solution available at the time. That is when the idea for www.sfwringtones.com came to life. Instead of using music or other classic ringer/interface sounds for a ringtone, I tried using high frequency sounds that are naturally occurring in the office for a ringtone (Sounds like keyboard typing, CD ejects, staplers, pen clicks, etc.). These sounds are easily masked by the office soundscape and are less of a distraction to others in the room.” stated Matheson.

Today, if you Google ‘safe for work ringtones’, you will quickly find www.sfwringtones.com. The first pack of SFW Ringtones has already been released for free download for the iPhone and other cell phones that support .MP3 ringtones (Blackberry, Android). The free download pack includes 20 sounds to use for your cell phone's call and message alerts. The SFW Ringtones website will also be releasing more free ringtones in the future and is presently giving website visitors a chance to say what type of sounds they would like to be released in future SFW Ringtone free ringtone download packs.

“Let’s face it. Cell phones will always be used in the office. Maybe it's about time we do our part to make them less invasive to others in the room. Not everybody wants to hear a cell phone screeching out every time there is an in-coming call. Especially when they are trying to remain focused while making tight deadlines in today's high-pressure work environment.” Matheson noted.
