The St. Louis Combat Institute is officially endorsed as a Systema – Russian Martial Art training facility.

St. Louis, MO (I-Newswire) December 2, 2011 - The St. Louis Combat Institute has officially been endorsed by Vladimir Vasiliev. Vasiliev is Director and Chief Instructor of the Toronto School of Russian Martial Art. Born in Russia, Vasiliev received intense training from the top Special Operations Units instructors. His work spans across 10 years of extensive military service with the Special Operations Unit of Spetsnaz, including regular high-risk covert assignments and missions. Vasiliev also served as trainer for paratroopers, SWAT teams, and elite bodyguards. Vasiliev is the top instructor under Systema Founder, Colonel Mikhail Ryabko, Special Operations Unit with the Russian Military, former Chief Instructor of tactical training for the Emergency Response Team, former Advisor to the Supreme Judge of the Russian Federation.

Systema is an ancient Russian martial art adapted for use in modern warfare by the Russian Special Operations and the Soviet spy network. Needing the fastest and most effective training regime for their elite fighters and undercover operatives, the Soviets experimented with many combat arts, only to rediscover the most deadly and sophisticated among their own traditional Slavic hill-fighting roots.

Until recently Systema was hidden by the highest levels of the Soviet classification only to be opened up to the West by Russian Masters Vladimir Vasiliev and Mikhail Ryabko.

Subtle, brutal and uncompromising it covers all aspects of combat training from hand-to-hand to the use of weapons in any and all combat enviroments. With no forms or kata to memorize, no techniques, no belts, no predetermined attitudes to conform to, just natural movement that can be practiced for a lifetime. Resulting in the development of a deep understanding of human nature, Systema is truly a unique and boundless art.

Classes are every evening beginning at 5:45pm and on Saturday mornings at 9:00am.
