Roxbury Community College 40th Anniversary Homecoming Celebration
RCC recently held a 40th anniversary homecoming celebration on Saturday, September 21. It was a great event open to the public that showcased many parts of the community. Representative Gloria Fox and Counselor Tito Jackson were also in attendance.
Stoughton, MA (I-Newswire) September 27, 2013 - Roxbury Community College (RCC) was proud to host its 40th Anniversary Homecoming Celebration this past weekend. The event was located at the RCC Main Campus Corridor at 1234 Columbus Avenue, Roxbury Crossing, MA. Hundreds of RCC Tigers from both past and present and their families were in attendance to show their school spirit and celebrate the 40th anniversary of their college.
Activities for the whole family such as face painting and balloon animals were present, to the delight of many young family members. Many community vendors were also in attendance in booths selling goods and celebrating with the attendees. Prime a Taste of Africa, Purple Fox Events, Silpada Jewelry, and Wills Cafe were among the many local businesses participating as vendors.
The ceremony kicked off with The Stajez Dance Company performing an opening celebration dance at 11:45am. Following the dance routine at noon was the Dignitary Presentation, starting with Massachusetts State Representative for the 7th Suffolk District, Gloria L. Fox. After Representative Fox was City Councilor for District 7, Tito Jackson. The final speaker was RCC President Dr. Valerie Roberson, who spoke of the proud tradition of Roxbury Community College and continuing it on into the future.
Following the speakers were several other performances including Salsa Y Control, The Classics, and the Steppers. RCC Tigers and their families were sporting their school colors of black and orange while dancing and singing along with the performances. After the fun of the shows there was a special student recognition presentation to recognize outstanding athletes on the Basketball, Soccer, Baseball and Track Teams. And finally following the student athlete recognitions the Stajez Dance Company performed once again with many young family members dancing along.
The Roxbury Community College 40th Anniversary Homecoming Celebration was a grand affair for all in attendance and a great representation of RCC Tiger school pride. RCC is proud to have been educating the community for 40 years and looks forward to another 40.
