Roof Top Cafe Seafood Among Top Reasons to Visit Keys

The award winning crab cakes of the Key West restaurant, The Roof Top Cafe, have been cited on the Huffington Post as one of the top six reasons to visit the Florida Keys.

Following the brutally cold winter that has had a great percentage of the upper midwest in its frozen grasp for months, the reasons to visit a tropical climate are many. Compiled by Lin Stranberg of the Huffington Post, the editor of the news wire has released the top six reasons to visit the Florida Keys.

Topping the list is the Overseas Highway, a 127 mile piece of US Highway One stretching from Key Largo to Key West, Florida. This strip of unique roadway is an engineering marvel with 47 bridges, including the Seven Mile Bridge, originally built as a railway in 1909. With views of the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Gulf of Mexico on the other, the Overseas Highway defines the term "open road."
The Florida Reef, America's only living coral barrier reef, off the coast of Key Largo, sits in the second spot. Home to thousands of species of marine life, and with over 70 nautical square miles of the reef on display, there are a plethora of things to see while snorkeling, scuba diving or cruising aboard a glass bottom boat.

Known as the sports fishing capital of the world, the islands of Islamorada, midway between Key Largo and Key West, occupy the third position. Deep sea fishing at its finest, the waters are filled with tuna, sailfish and blue marlin.

With crab cakes boasting accolades from the top chefs around the world, the Key West restaurant, The Roof Top Cafe, slips in at number four alongside the Hogfish Bar and Grill, also of Key West. A sampling of the freshest seafood available is one of many reasons to visit the utmost southern point of the United States.

The fifth reason cited by Stranberg also involves the tiny island of Key West and its breathtaking sunsets. Charter company, Dangers Charters, feature the unique Wind and Wine Sunset Sail aboard a classic American Skipjack custom replica afloat on the beautiful waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

Finally, the Keys of Florida have become known worldwide for the belief of equality for all who visit or live on the islands. People of all persuasion, orientation and spiritual belief are welcome to relax and enjoy all that is the Florida Keys.
