Robert F. Boyd Joins Balentine as Managing Director in the Mid-Atlantic Region

Boyd to serve as Managing Director in Balentine's new Baltimore, Maryland office

Balentine, an Atlanta-based independent, employee-owned firm serving the investment and risk management needs of individuals, families and not-for-profit institutions, has hired Robert F. Boyd to serve as Managing Director in their new Baltimore, Maryland office. Founded in January 2010, Balentine currently has more than $800 million in client assets under management.

Boyd will focus on new business development and relationship management for Balentine clients in the mid-Atlantic region, and he will be working closely with Balentine's Investment Strategy Team. The rapidly growing firm now has 22 employees and plans continued expansion throughout the region.

Balentine Chairman, Robert Balentine said, "Robby has enjoyed a distinguished career in investment management. He is widely published and read, and he will make a significant contribution to our investment research and client service."

Boyd is a native of Baltimore, Maryland. His career spans forty years and includes service at Investment Counselors of Maryland, Mercantile Bank, and Brandywine Asset Management. In addition to his work with these firms, Boyd has an extensive history working with individuals and families focusing on wealth and risk management. His research has been widely published and is featured in Understanding Wall Street, by Jeffrey B. Little and Lucien Rhodes, today in its fifth edition (McGraw-Hill, 2010).

Discussing the Balentine approach to investment management, Boyd explains, "The investment business has changed dramatically in my nearly forty years in the industry. We've had to create new ways of doing things while revisiting the fundamentals. Balentine's focus on client service and a forward looking investment model that measures and controls for risks clearly demonstrates an understanding of these fundamentals."

Boyd graduated from the University of Virginia with highest distinction and was inducted into the Raven Society. He received an MBA from Columbia University's Graduate School of Business where he was elected to Beta Gamma Sigma, and he holds the Chartered Financial Analysts® designation.

Boyd lives with his wife and daughter in Baltimore, Maryland where he has advised the board of the Women's Hospital, the founding organization of the Greater Baltimore Medical Center and is a past trustee of the Gilman School where he also served as president of the Alumni Association.
