Reza Mokhtarian and Investing in Renewable Energy Industries

Online, March 18, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Known for his visionary outlook regarding investments, Reza Mokhtarian recently announced that he sees little investment potential in renewable energy technologies within the next 5 years and would rather hold off on investments till the technology becomes a viable and affordable investment. He explains that failures such as those seen in the case of One Solar (previously one of the largest solar panel manufacturing companies in the world) shows how the technology is costly, returns are scant and public demand is waning especially in light of the current financial recession. While Mr. Mokhtarian agrees that renewable energy technologies are the "wave of the future" he admits that despite their advantages there are far too many misgivings especially in the face of lax public demand and the increasingly high costs of production. This particular admission has startled many renewable energy startups since they were actually looking forward to Reza Mokhtarian investing into their companies given his reputation as a "visionary". In fact his admission that renewable energy technologies at the present are a terrible investment may in fact lead to other venture capitalists developing their own hesitance regarding investing into such companies and could possibly result in an adverse investment trend where no one would invest into renewable energy technologies at all. In response to critics Reza Mokhtarian stated that while he is a visionary when it comes to investments this doesn't mean he's foolish, in his own words he states that his first priority are his clients and as such it should not come as a surprise that the would be hesitant or in fact downright refuse to invest into a technology that has yet to sufficiently prove itself as investment grade material. On the other hand he does state that while he himself doesn't have the vision perhaps another individual with a far more grander view of the technologies future may potentially invest into it (referring to his numerous European contacts who have been investing into renewable energy as of late). While this does show that Mr. Mokhtarian looks after his clients one must wonder about the future of renewable energy technology in the face of hesitance from one of the investment world's best traders.
