Revolution MMA Produces Youth State Wrestling Champion

Wrestling for Revolution MMA's Wrestling Program, and the Benton Panther’s Youth Club, Joshua George became the 2013 Youth State Wrestling Champion. Joshua won the 12 and under heavyweight division.

Wrestling for Revolution MMA's Wrestling Program, and the Benton Panther’s Youth Club, Joshua George became the 2013 Youth State Wrestling Champion. Joshua won the 12 and under heavyweight division. Teammates John Mortiz, the Benton Panther’s High School Co-Captain, took the Bronze medal for third place and Benton’s Samuel Allen took forth place, each in their respective divisions. Last year, Chris Giblin, of Revolution MMA's Wrestling program took bronze in his division.

Preparation for this event was planned in detail by Coach Jory Malone. Jory Malone is the leading specialist in Athletic Development in his area, having traveled the world and trained under many of the top specialists in the field. Coach Malone planned this training to begin with a phase of general physical preparation leading to skill acquisition and development. This was Josh's first year to participate in wrestling. Leading up to this event, the team competed in a number of events. Most recently, the team competed in a competition at Central Arkansas Christian. Josh won second in his division, while another teammate, Chandler Cliff, took home gold and was distinguished with the fastest pin in his category, at 15 seconds.

The Youth State Championship is an annual event and one of the largest wrestling events held in Arkansas with hundreds of competitors from five to fifteen years old. This year’s competition was held at the Roger’s Heritage High School Arena. Panther’s Coaches Jory Malone and Jon George, Joshua’s father, coach the Youth Wrestling Club at Revolution Mixed Martial Arts (Revolution MMA) in Benton, AR, and also coach the High School Wrestling Team at the Benton High School.
