Reverse Osmosis Facility Commissioned by Biwater in the City of Sunrise, Florida Undefined

Biwater have successfully completed the acceptance testing of a reverse osmosis system at the Springtree Water Treatment Plant located in Sunrise, Florida in the United States.

Biwater have successfully completed the acceptance testing of a 1.5 million gallons per day (MGD (US)) reverse osmosis (RO) system at the Springtree Water Treatment Plant located in Sunrise, Florida in the United States.

The facility, which is up and running, is assisting the city in meeting its alternative water supply requirements.

Biwater designed the two-stage system, which incorporates an interstage recovery system. The energy recovery system includes a novel manipulated valve control system that was developed by Biwater together with Fluid Equipment Development Company (FEDCO).

The project was performed directly under contract with the city of Sunrise. Carollo Engineers served as the owner's engineer.

Richard White, Senior Vice President, Biwater AEWT, said, "Having been involved in this project from the beginning, through to commissioning, it has been a pleasure to work with the City of Sunrise and Carollo Engineers to successfully complete this project, bringing Biwater's installed treatment capacity in the City of Sunrise to 19.5 MGD (US) / 74,000 m3/day".

RO system technical summary:
- 1.5 MGD (US) of potable water produced at permeate water recoveries of up to 80 percent
- The feed water total dissolved solids (TDS) is recorded at approximately 3,000 mg/l, coming from a repurposed existing aquifer storage recovery (ASR) well
