A charity fête held recently at Boughton Hall, the award-winning new retirement development in Chester, raised some £1,400 for Barnardo’s. The development is situated on the site of a former Barnardo’s children’s home.

London (I-Newswire) September 30, 2011 - The residents at Boughton Hall retirement development have organised a fund-raising event for the charity for the Second year running.

Chester’s MP, Stephen Mosley, opened the event and spent time trying out some of the games on offer as well as speaking to Boughton Hall residents and visitors. Over 400 people attended the event, with lots of traditional stalls to try out, such as a coconut shy and tombola, a barbecue and face painting among the family-friendly entertainment on offer.

“This is my second visit to Boughton Hall and I am delighted to see how those who live here are shaping their community – organising a village fête is a perfect example of that,” says Mr Mosley. “I am also pleased that Boughton Hall residents and staff are choosing to help support the good work that Barnardo’s does with vulnerable children by raising money at such events.”

Boughton Hall consists of several distinct blocks of new-build one- and two-bedroom apartments built on a 4.5-acre site around the restored, Grade II-listed Hall. These new homes in Cheshire have a top-notch specification, including a fully fitted kitchen with Bosch and Indesit appliances, en suite facilities to the master bedroom of every two-bedroom apartment and underfloor heating along with lift access to all floors and secure parking. Prices start at £199,950 for a one-bedroom property and £285,000 for a two-bedroom home on the current phases.

The specification also includes lots of features to provide an ideal retirement living environment, including a 24-hour emergency callout service, walk-in showers and electrically operated windows. All residents get 90 minutes of domestic help weekly for free, with further assistance available for an extra charge.

There’s an impressive list of communal facilities too: not just the landscaped gardens in which the residences are set, but a Garden Room restaurant, lounge, bar, library, hair and beauty salon, gym and guest suite.

The development runs a “try before you buy” scheme where prospective purchasers can spend a complimentary night or two at Boughton Hall to see whether they like what they see before committing to buy there. There is also a part exchange scheme in operation that could assist homeowners dispose of their existing home and smoothing the move to a brand new retirement living apartment at Boughton Hall.
