Regeneration Project Creates 1000 New Affordable Homes

London (I-Newswire) February 9, 2012 - Iceni Homes, based in Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk, will be building and launching affordable new homes in Cambridgeshire and Suffolk as well as affordable housing new developments in Essex.

The new developments in the region form part of a £123 million programme that is partly funded by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and by local authorities. Already £21 million of funding has been agreed towards the regeneration programme.

The range of affordable new homes in Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire will include a mixture of family housing and new flats. The properties will be available to local tenants on low incomes at affordable rents, as well as being available to buyers through a shared ownership scheme. The new developments will be built over the next four years.

Building work is already underway with thirty nine affordable new flats in Cambridgeshire that are being constructed on the former site of Cambridge Fire Station. The new development will be built integrating the new fire station.

Iceni Homes work in collaboration with three housing associations in the East of England: Suffolk Housing in Suffolk, Hundred Houses in Cambridgeshire and Colne Housing in Essex. The house builder delivers collaborative schemes working with housing associations, developers, charities and Parish councils, to provide innovative new housing that meets the needs of local communities.

As well as working on major regeneration initiatives with local authorities, the house builder also provides a number of affordable housing initiatives for those in need. They develop supported housing for women and children who are fleeing domestic violence and sheltered house for retired people aged 55 years and over. They also develop affordable rural housing so that local rural communities can continue to live in their local villages without getting priced out of the local housing market. They also provide key worker affordable new homes in Suffolk as part of a shared equity scheme provided for public sector key workers.
