The New Online Tour Provides an In-Depth Look at Reading Horizons Method, Products, and Implementation Strategies

(I-Newswire) March 15, 2010 - Reading Horizons, one of the pioneers of reading software, has created a series of online tours to inform educators on the method and benefits of its reading program for struggling readers.

Reading Horizons President, Tyson Smith, described the online tour by saying: “The new Tour that has been developed for readinghorizons.com will provide a perfectly sequenced overview of the methodology, teaching tools, implementation suggestions, and results that are obtained through the use of the Reading Horizons curriculum. Everyone who completes the tour will agree with me when I say it is worth every minute invested.”

Each tour allows educators to engage in an interactive overview of the Reading Horizons method with creative visuals and concise narration. The tour allows the participant to interactively apply the rules of Reading Horizons unique marking system to a group of example words. The tour explains how this unique method works for students who read below grade level as well as presenting success stories from teachers that have used the program. The tour examines research studies and emphasizes how Reading Horizons helps English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students learn how to read. The tour also highlights products and offers tips for implementing the program into the classroom.

There are four tours divided by age group ranging from elementary to adult. There is also a tour specifically designed for instructors teaching EFL students.

The online tours coincide with the launch of Readings Horizons new website. To view the Reading Horizons online tour visit:

About Reading Horizons:
Founded in 1984, Reading Horizons has spent the last two decades developing and perfecting computer software based on the effective Discover Intensive Phonics for Yourself (DIP) method first published in 1976. Reading Horizons originally produced only an elementary version of the software but soon became very aware of the need for a sequential, basic reading program for secondary and adult students. Reading Horizons applied for and was awarded a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) grant from the federal Department of Education to develop the Discover Intensive Phonics software for non-reading adults. The result was Reading Horizons.
