Queen to Queen, Inc. Launches the Reigning Royalty Program

Queen to Queen, Inc. has announced the official launch of the Reigning Royalty Program, a college-focused program initiative.

Washington, DC (I-Newswire) November 26, 2012 - Queen to Queen, Inc. has announced the official launch of the Reigning Royalty Program, a college-focused program initiative.

Queen to Queen, Inc.’s Reigning Royalty Program works to encourage African-American women attending historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) to represent their HBCU as its Queen or campaign for elected student body positions. It also provides programming and training opportunities for current HBCU Queens.

“We knew there was a need on the campuses of HBCUs. Young women who were interested in holding titles or running for offices weren’t sure what to do, who to see, or where to start. Queen to Queen, Inc.’s Reigning Royalty Program addresses those three questions and then goes several steps beyond that,” said Queen to Queen Board Member & Director of Reigning Royalty Jessica Canty.

The Reigning Royalty Program connects current HBCU Queens and African-American college women with Queen to Queen members, local networking opportunities, as well as personal and professional development workshops to prepare them for their life in leadership on campus and in the workforce. Program participants will receive additional training on media relations, leadership development, and effective campaigning through webinars and local events.

“As a current queen, preparing for the election or the pageant is not easy. I think having a program like Reigning Royalty to help future Queens is a great idea! I would have appreciated having it as a resource when I was running,” said Miss Bowie State University 2012-2013 Ebony Paige.

Established in 2009 and incorporated in 2010, Queen to Queen, Inc. is an organization geared toward current and former Queens of HBCUs as well as professional African-American women.

Created by two former Queens of North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University, the organization strives to build a network of women that will serve as mentors, sounding boards, and professional contacts across the country for Queen to Queen members; act as models of professional women of color to young women; and be examples of the high-quality education and advancement available through our nation’s HBCUs.
