Pursuit Of Power's Melodic Power Metal CD Released

La Porte, Indiana (I-Newswire) February 21, 2012 - Irish Shred Records has released Across The World, the debut melodic power metal CD by Pursuit Of Power. It contains nine originals and a remake of the Krokus song Russian Winter. The physical CD is available from Pursuit Of Power’s official website and CDBaby, and also as a download from CDBaby as well as several MP3 stores, most notably iTunes and Amazon.com.

Pursuit Of Power is a project originally created to be in the style of European metal. Their debut CD contains only two musicians, both being veterans of hard rock/heavy metal from the Chicago, southwestern Michigan, and northwestern Indiana area. Founder Martin McCann who played all of the instruments on Across The World is mainly a guitarist who grew up on classic rock, and then later, classic metal, but says he finds himself listening almost exclusively to European heavy metal these days. Vocalist Steve Mullican Jr. is a former band-mate of McCann and has been singing classic hard rock and classic metal for years. Together, they strive for melody, power, drive, and precision.

Although Pursuit Of Power is being referred to as a band, it is more accurately a studio project. McCann says on the CD’s liner notes, “…the whole time I was writing these songs, I felt like I was writing for a melodic metal band. From the start, I have always seen Pursuit Of Power as a band, even if that band was only in my mind. But that’s how every band starts out anyway, an idea in someone’s mind…the next step is to put together a line-up to perform these songs live and use this project as a building block.”

Pursuit Of Power was conceived by McCann in 2009 when he began building Audio Moments Recording Studio in his home. “It’s not really something that I came up with all by myself,” says McCann. “It seems more like something that was given to me from another dimension.” One night McCann had a vivid dream of an unknown band that came to visit him. He seen and heard them clearly, but knowing that they were not of this world, he set out to capture the feeling and vibes of their music. He insisted on doing all of the writing and playing of the instruments himself so that his vision would remain unaltered by others. He spent 2010 writing, and 2011 recording the Pursuit Of Power project as well as other people’s music. Pursuit Of Power takes it’s name from one of the songs that he wrote. That song was released as a digital only single in June of 2011 to pave the way for this first full-length CD, Across The World.
