Utah (I-Newswire) March 25, 2011 - Pressure Products, Inc. and its OGWA™ brand are the “Intel Inside” the award winning Geigerrig Hydration Pack line.
Before the recent recognition of Geigerrig Packs (best Hard Goods) at the January 2011 Outdoor Retailer trade show, there were the “Concept to Company” and “Best of Utah” prizes for technology awarded to Pressure Products, Inc. the holder of pending patents for the OGWA-powered Geigerrig Hydration Engine.
Ogwa technology, which pressurizes portable fluid sources using a simple two-chambered reservoir, also encompasses IP involving inline filtration, infusion, and leak-free dispensing valves.
In celebration of the most outstanding new products, companies and ideas of the 2011 Winter Outdoor Retailer Market, SNEWS and the 3M™ Corporation presented the inaugural IN-NEW-VATION Award for the Hard-Good Category to GEIGERRIG Pressurized Hydration Packs.
A hydration pack should make it easy and convenient for everyone to access and use water. With a GEIGERRIG Hydration Pack the water is sprayed out, providing a cleansing rinse, an opportunity to share water without wrapping your mouth around yucky bite valves, and a hands-free hydration system that is truly effortless and that does not disrupt breathing or aerobic activity. Because of the convenience for water access, GEIGERRIG reports people that carry one tend to use about 50% more water and that means greater hydration and performance.
In just six months, GEIGERRIG has over 300 stores carrying this new product and distributors opening internationally. Retailers in motor sports, running, biking, boating, kayaking, skiing, fishing, hunting, and camping, are included.
Steve Johnson, President, CEO, Tucker Rocky Distributing – The Leading Motor Sports Distributor in the United States said, “We’re excited because GEIGERRIG offers so much to the world of hydration packs with virtually no additional cost. With a RIG on your back you can spray off your gear, spray off your face, share without sucking on a drink valve, filter water from a stream, …and the packs are tough as nails.
As Harlan Gardiner, CEO of Pressure Products, tells it: Bob and Curt Geiger, with their team, could not have been better at getting this idea fully realized and into the marketplace. We spoke with many in the industry before deciding on a license partner (in the Outdoor Marketplace) for our technology which became branded as OGWA after (Gardiner) took over as CEO in 2009. Curt’s history in the ski / outdoor world was a big plus and the military background that Bob brought to the table was critical. We knew that his sense of urgency and recognition of the technology’s importance would power the idea. From first prototype to stock delivery was a remarkable 7 months.
The validation that the market has given this young concept is impressive and “quite warranted” according to Toby Hazelbaker, VP, and among the original founders of the company. The ability of an individual to not only carry their own supply but to dispense it with both varying spray pattern and intensity is a step forward from “suck to drink” systems. When combined with the upcoming importance of in-line filtration, it is the ability to pressurize contaminated water supply thru different filter types that propels the OGWA idea especially with its host of filtration partners.
While Geigerrig will continue to focus its efforts with the retail community internationally, Pressure Products, and OGWA continues to explore license opportunities with the Medical Supply and direct Military Procurement supply chain.
Dehydration is one of the most serious problems faced in all areas of health care. It can result in organ failure, high blood pressure, bed-sore occurrences and more. Compromised patient nutrition, bedside sanitization, and pediatric care could benefit from our effective, cost efficient application for what is essentially being dealt with no differently than 50 years ago, says Gardiner. We are in talks, and hope to partner with companies as bold and dedicated as Geigerrig. Our congratulations to them.
