As many companies continue to expand their offerings digitally, it would be expected that their investments in the overall customer experience would increase as well. The results of the Q3 2014 Benchmarking report however, show otherwise. Prepared by the link quality experts at LinkTiger, this report reveals that some of the largest technology companies have more than 31,000 broken links on their websites collectively. These broken links can lead to lost customers, lost revenues and a poor corporate reputation.

"In the past, investing in your digital brand meant building a website, adding a large volume of information and continuing to add to this material." Explains Steve Moskowski, President and CEO of LinkTiger. "The internet is an ever-changing landscape and as companies continue to grow their brand presence digitally, it is equally important to invest in maintaining a credible, reliable website. This includes minimizing the occurrence of error messages and non-existent webpages for engaged consumers who are seeking information from your company."

While the technology companies polled this quarter performed better than other industries have in the past, the results are still unexpectedly high. Among the companies with more than 3,000 broken links on their website were IBM (3,267), Apple (6,880) and Cisco Systems with a shocking 11,707 dead links.

"Broken links lead to lost revenue, customer dissatisfaction, lost traffic and higher costs," concluded Moskowski "We have created a powerful cloud-enabled solution that is always working to protect your brand by automatically ensuring that your critical web presence is functioning properly."

As consumer behavior continues to propagate online, it is important that organizations are able to identify these occurrences of breakage in real-time, so the customer experience is never hindered. Simply improving the quality of your links can immediately lead to an increase in web traffic, customer satisfaction and most importantly sales revenues.
