Marylou Barrow Originals to be Showcased at the Fall 2014 Art Show

The new watercolor collection inspired by Historic Illinois and Missouri

Affinity Entertainment Productions announces the Fall 2014 Art Show of Marylou Barrow, the beloved, St. Louis artist whose works have been nationally recognized. Barrow will be presenting her new watercolor collections of portraits in floral, abstracts, and landscapes, many which have been inspired by historic Elsah, Illinois, and the surrounding St. Louis area. The 10a.m. to 4p.m. show will be held on October 18, 2014 at the Historic Elsah Foundation’s, Farley Music Hall, located at 37 Mill Street, Elsah, Illinois.

Barrow’s work is often compared to Georgia O’Keefe’s, and yet her own art stands alone. Whether a still life, landscape or floral, each piece seems to have a life of its own. “An original Marylou Barrow painting is quickly recognized,” says Virginia Butler of Memphis, Tennessee. “It’s as though the colors and shapes speak to you. There’s no denying how it affects those that looks upon it.”

The colors indeed come alive in each and every painting. Water color paintings; particularly, are Barrow’s passion. When asked about her preferred medium, Marylou states, “I love the free flowing water colors more than anything else. To me, oils are too tight and too heavy. Water colors tend to come alive, and are more easily worked with.”

This self-taught artist must carry the spirit of O’Keefe with her as the floral paintings alone will reveal the genius in the work. Many homes are graced with a Barrow painting, and businesses, too, which are a true testament of the love for this artist’s creations.

There will be a variety of sizes available of watercolor originals at the Fall 2014 Art Show at Farley’s Music Hall. To view some of Marylou Barrow’s work, go to www.maryloubarrow.com
