Distinct LLC marketer of Probiotic Action released a statement in response to a study conducted by two scientists regarding the effectiveness of topical probiotic usage for individuals who have sensitive skin conditions.

The two month study, the results of which were published on NaturalMedicineJournal.com, was conducted and authored by researchers from L’Oreal in France and Nestle in Switzerland. During the study, women who were chosen for their skin sensitivity were provided with probiotics or a placebo. The result of the study was that “there was statistically significant improvement in perceived skin roughness in the intervention group vs placebo (P=0.006).”

Maintaining the proper levels of good bacteria are critical for healthy skin.

Fernando Perez, PR Manager

Probiotic Action spokesman Fernando Perez thinks that this study is a significant step forward for the acceptance of probiotics by the medical community. He says, “What the researchers have done is to further the acceptance of probiotics by legitimizing what we already knew to be true, that probiotics can be a key component to having healthy skin, even for those of us who have sensitive skin caused by a variety of medical conditions such as rosacea.“

Perez goes on to say, “Maintaining the proper levels of good bacteria are critical for healthy skin. The article’s author said, ‘We are on the cusp of a much more sophisticated understanding of the therapeutic applications of probiotics, not only for skin disease but for a great number of immune-mediated conditions.’ Since probiotics are naturally produced by the human body, most people aren’t risking an allergic reaction or negative side effects. This study serves to remind us of the many conditions that can be helped by probiotics. Hopefully more studies like this one are forthcoming.”
