Traditional holiday and short break brochures now have a hi-tech companion with virtual tours of Edinburgh now able to be delivered straight to your IPOD or MP3 player. The pilot Podcast has been devised by VisitScotland and creative agency 1576 to give potential visitors a virtual taste of Edinburgh. This is the first initiative of its kind for a national tourism organisation.
(I-Newswire) - Visitors will be able to imagine they are touring the streets of Edinburgh as they listen to the audio and get a taste of past and present stories about the city that includes accounts from local attractions and pubs such as Mary Kings Close, The Last Drop Tavern and The Kings Wark.
The soundtrack which was recorded on location around Edinburgh is narrated by Edinburgh born Vicky Liddelle, is easy to listen to, upbeat and funny and gives listeners the low down on local sayings and traditions. The tour covers the Old Town, New Town and Leith, and mentions traditional attractions such as the Castle, the Palace of Holyrood and the Scottish Parliament.
Also mentioned are lesser known points of interest such as the Malmasion- previously the Sailors Mission and the eerie Greyfriars Kirk graveyard which is where the famous Skye Terrier dog -Greyfriars Bobby is said to be buried. The tour also focuses on the many contemporary shops and trendy bars that the city has to offer and gives you the insider knowledge needed to plan a weekend away or a short break.
