On July 31-Aug 2 The Tri-State Outdoor Festival will be home to one of the few tomahawk throwing competitions in the area. This very unique event attracts competitors of all ages. This is one of the things that the Tri-State Outdoor Festival offers – the ability to see and try a multitude of outdoor sports.
(I-Newswire) - Tomahawk Throw: I consider myself an avid outdoorsmen. Over the years I have shot, hunted, and caught most things that present itself as opportunities in the area we live. Until last year at the festival I had never thrown a hatchet. This event was a huge hit at the 2008 festival, mainly for that reason. You cannot just walk in many places and get the experience of actually throwing a hatchet competitively. This event was designed as another heads up competition event. You would be surprised how easy it was with a little training to stick a hatchet into a piece of wood. For the competition a playing card is stapled onto the middle of the wood target. Two competitors pace then off 4/5 steps from the target and overhand throw at the playing card. Closest to the card wins – best two out of three. If there is a tie there is a “throw off” – closest the center of the card wins. It’s great competition for people of all ages, and should again be a big hit at the 2009 Festival.
