Architectural details by artist at Wolfgang Puck L.A. Live
In collaboration with the New-York based hospitality design firm Tony Chi and Associates, artist Christian Heckscher recently created and produced 11 unique custom-etched nickel columns at the new Wolfgang Puck L.A. Live restaurant located in the Nokia Plaza, downtown Los Angeles
(I-Newswire) - Each column is of a suite of 5 or 6 panels designed and etched as a unique sketch. The artwork was created with the idea of bringing organic patterns and natural shapes to the aesthetic of the space and to enhance the dining experience
“I love the magic of light flirting with the etched relief of the metal. It brings the pattern to life any time it catches the eyes” says Christian Heckscher. A “champagne” ambiance is created through the graphic energy captured in the brightness of the nickel finish.
Belgian born artist and craftsman, Christian Heckscher has created and produced a unique range of etched metal design since 1971, combining functional forms with artistic expression. In 1996, he created Lift Design Inc., a company that specializes in custom etched elevator doors and custom fabrication of architectural details in metal for high-end hospitality and residential space. Commissions include The Park Hyatt Hotels in Shanghai and Tokyo, The Intercontinental Hotel in Geneva, The Shangri-La Hotel in Tokyo, The Ritz Carlton Hotel in Bachelor Gulch Colorado, the Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, the Mandarin Oriental Hotels in New York and Miami.
