The Art for L’Aquila Charity Auction launches its Online Catalogue at lifeinabruzzo.com
The fundraising art auction 'Art for L'Aquila is now available to view online at lifeinabruzzo.com. This unique event comprising of works donated by Abruzzo artists and leading international artists including Jack Vettriano takes place on Thrusday 2nd July at London's Italian Cultural Institute.
(I-Newswire) - /1888PressRelease/ The Art for L’Aquila Charity Auction catalogue is now available to view online, hosted by the online Abruzzo travel guide ‘Life in Abruzzo’. The auction represents a wide variety of work, both in terms of medium and style, including an excellent collaborative photographic triptych by British artist Jack Vettriano and the acclaimed Italian photographer Fredi Marcarini, alongside pieces by Christofer Dierdorff, Karin Askham & Duilio Pilloni, and many others.
Organized by Art Project Minerva in response to the devastation wreaked by the earthquake in April, both the exhibition & charity auction are being hosted by the Italian Cultural Institute in London; the exhibition runs from the 29th of June until the 5th of July, with the auction, conducted by Bloomsbury Auctions, taking place on the 2nd July, at 7.00pm.
The project features contributions by both Abruzzo, British and other International artists, all of whom have donated their work towards raising funds for the restoration of L’Aquila’s renowned church, Santa Maria del Suffragio, damaged extensively by the earthquake, and to many in that region a symbol of the tragic devastation suffered that morning, as well as from the subsequent aftershocks.
The artists & organizers believe that, for the people of the city of L’Aquila and its surrounding little hill villages who may not all have their own walls to hang art on at the moment, electing this fund for monies raised is an important element of true street art, when simply walking along the street provides the opportunity to be captivated by something beautiful which takes you away from the present or the mundane, and gladdens the soul.
