Consumers have once again been told that if they want to save money on energy it can be as simple as turning down their thermostat.
(I-Newswire) - According to a spokeswoman for the Energy Savings Trust ( EST ), a non-profit company which offers advice on cutting bills and carbon emissions, reducing home temperatures by just one degree Celsius can have a significant impact.
Paula Owen, energy doctor at the organisation, said that somewhere between 18 and 21 degrees Celsius was the recommended temperature for living rooms in most cases.
"Changing the way you heat your house can really help. Try turning your thermostat down by one degree Celsius," she said. "You might not notice the difference, but it can cut your heating bills by ten per cent a year."
Recent EST figures revealed that the average UK household could cut its annual energy bills by as much as Ł300 by improving energy-efficiency.
