New contracts for pharmacies - No problem for Vantage Health Watch, England and Wales
New contracts for pharmacies in England and Wales designed to provide a wider range of services.have come into force today. In anticipation of this move Vantage Pharmacies established Vantage Health Watch two years ago. It offers services including blood pressure monitoring, smoking cessation, cholesterol testing, weight management and travel health.

High blood pressure and high cholesterol levels, left unchecked, can lead to coronary heart disease which is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in the UK. It affects 3.5% of the UK adult population and kills more than 128,500 people each year, of which almost 50,000 are under the age of 75.
Coronary heart disease ( CHD ) is largely preventable thanks to healthy lifestyles and effective management of high blood pressure and cholesterol.
The British Heart Foundation says that despite recent improvements, CHD remains the single most common cause of death in both men and women in the UK, and that the national death rate from CHD is still amongst the highest in the western world.
Ajit says, “We are now offering blood pressure monitoring services to a wide group of patients including the well and the worried well, those with a family history of heart disease, the elderly and people on blood pressure medication.”
