For the second year in a row, G.I. Jobs Magazine has awarded Post University the distinction of Military Friendly School

Waterbury, CT (I-Newswire) September 14, 2011 - G.I. Jobs, the premier magazine for military personnel transitioning into civilian life, has awarded Post University the distinction of Military Friendly School for the second year in a row. This recognition places Post University in the top 20 percent of all higher education institutions in the United States based on its prioritization and support of military service members and veterans.

“At Post University, we are honored to be able to serve those who are serving or have served our country, and we are proud to be selected as a Military Friendly School by G.I. Jobs,” said retired Lt. Col. Ed Lizotte, Post University’s Director of Military Programs and Veterans Affairs. “It is a testament to our commitment to providing Active Duty, Veteran and Military Dependents with the educational opportunities and support that they need to succeed.”

Post University has been a pioneer in serving military personnel since 1976 and currently has a military enrollment of more than 3,000 students, including Active Duty, Veterans and Military Dependents. Under the leadership of a retired Lieutenant Colonel and with the help of faculty and staff who also have served as part of our nation's Armed Forces, its Military Program is specifically designed to fit the demands of military personnel. In addition to being a Servicemembers Opportunity College and a proud participant in the Yellow Ribbon Program, the University has also reduced its tuition and covered the cost of textbooks so service members can earn their degree while incurring little or no out-of-pocket expenses.

As a traditional, regionally accredited university with an excellent online program, Post University is also uniquely positioned to meet the needs of service members in flexible ways. Students may enroll at its main campus in Waterbury, Conn., take accelerated degree program courses at one of four locations in the state, or complete their degrees entirely online.

“The success of our program is also a tribute to our students, many of whom are taking courses while serving overseas and balancing the demands of their military careers and family responsibilities,” said Lizotte. “This accolade is a tribute to the hard work of everyone who takes part in this program and I salute each and every one of them.”

The 2012 list of Military Friendly Schools was compiled through extensive research and a data driven survey of more than 8,000 schools nationwide. Methodology, criteria and weighting for the list were developed with the assistance of an Academic Advisory Board (AAB) consisting of educators from schools across the country.

Post University also was included in Military Advanced Education's Annual Guide to Military-Friendly Colleges & Universities list in 2010 and 2011; and the Military Times EDGE “Best for Vets” 2010 edition.
