Port Commissioner John Creighton Announces Launch of New Resource Blog: JohnCreightonSeattle.com
John Creighton is proud to announce that he has built, and will be maintaining, a new website dedicated to the Seattle economy.
Detroit, Michigan (I-Newswire) September 22, 2012 - John Creighton, Port of Seattle Commissioner since 2006, is proud to announce that he has built, and will be maintaining, a new website dedicated to the Seattle economy. The new site, www.johncreightonseattle.com launches immediately.
John Creighton currently maintains an active Twitter presence, and he also writes frequent blog entries on his own site, www.johncreighton.org. In these two venues, he explores his accomplishments in public office, and he works to keep the electorate informed about important issues pertaining to the airport and seaport, and economic development issues impacting the Puget Sound economy. For this new site, John Creighton has a completely different idea in mind.
"I use much of my public writing time to discuss policy decisions and important issues concerning regional economic development and the Port," says Commissioner Creighton. "Seattle has so much to offer, however, and I wanted to explore the lighter side of the city in some of my writing. This site will let me boast a bit about our city and our region, and reveal some of the attributes that make Seattle such a great place to visit, and an ideal place to live."
John Creighton can use his Port experience to inform his work on the blog, of course, but he also plans to draw upon his personal experiences in relation to the city. He has ample material to use, due to his long history growing up and working in the Seattle area over the last four decades.
"I was born in Miami, but my family moved to the suburbs of Seattle when I was 5 years old," he says. "I grew up exploring the streets of Seattle and backpacking throughout the Cascade and Olympic mountains. I've done some traveling, and I've even lived on the east coast and overseas for a time, but I have always considered Seattle my home. This long history with the Pacific Northwest should help me to write interesting perspectives on the region I love. I hope I can expose people to some hidden gems in Seattle and Washington State."
Commissioner John Creighton’s term on the Port Commission is up in 2013, and he plans to run for another term. He may discuss his campaign, and his plans for the Port, on this blog. However, he feels that this new site should be apolitical in nature.
"This site isn't really designed for political use," he says. "Instead, I see this as a place where I can simply write about the region I love."
