PODS Moving And Storage Container Donations Produce Big Results For Bay Area Charity

San Francisco, CA (I-Newswire) July 19, 2011 - Mike’s Bikes teamed up with PODS of San Francisco from June 13-26 to collect bicycles for its Sister Shops project in Africa. In just two weeks, PODS® helped the bay area retailer gather 500 donated bicycles in record time at eight northern California store locations.

“As a result of our partnership with PODS of San Francisco, we experienced great success during last month’s bike drive,” said Ken Martin, founder and CEO of Mike’s Bikes. “Normally it would have taken us several months to collect that number of bicycles. Thanks to PODS, we were able to fill the donated containers in just two short weeks – faster than ever before.”

Mike’s Bikes helps people in developing African countries by donating bicycles to residents in rural villages, providing business start-up funding and mentoring bike shop entrepreneurs. Mike’s Bikes will soon send their 10th shipment of bicycles to Sierra Leone, bringing the total number of bikes shipped to its sister shops in Africa since 2007 to 5,000.
