PODS Long Island Helps Times Square New Year's Eve Revelers Reach New Heights

PODS of Long Island donates 10 PODS® containers to store and transport balloons and party supplies for New Year's Eve celebration in Times Square.

In addition to watching the big ball drop in New York City's infamous Times Square, thousands of New Year's Eve revelers will also release helium balloons and wear festive hats and funny glasses at the stroke of midnight.

Although a fun and interactive way to engage the crowd, Times Square event organizers have long struggled with the logistics of storing, transporting and distributing balloons, hats and other party paraphernalia to the growing number of people who gather together for the world's most famous year end celebration.

PODS of Long Island, a local moving and storage leader, has stepped up to help with the 2011 New Year's Eve balloon operation by providing 10 PODS® containers to store and transport balloons and party supplies to distribution locations throughout Times Square and the surrounding area. Prior to midnight, the supplies will be given to event goers to help them ring in the New Year.

"PODS provided a flexible, cost-effective convenient temporary storage solution for the tens of thousands of handouts distributed in Times Square on New Year's Eve," said Jeffrey Straus, President of Countdown Entertainment.
"PODS is proud to be a part of this year's Times Square New Year's Eve celebration," said John Bornmiller, general manager of PODS Long Island. "We're honored to be able to support a time honored tradition in such a fun and unique way."
