Cleveland Public Hall (I-Newswire) August 26, 2011 - The Greater Cleveland Sports Commission is pleased to announce it will be hosting the first annual PNC Greek Step Show on Friday, September 9th from 7:00-10:00pm at the Cleveland Convention Center Music Hall. The PNC Greek Step Show is one of the weekend’s festivities leading up to the Cleveland Classic football game presented by McDonald’s when Central State University will play North Carolina Central University at Cleveland Browns Stadium.

Nine total sorority and fraternity Greek organizations of the National Pan¬–Hellenic Council (NPHC) will celebrate the unique art of stepping by using their bodies as an instrument to produce complex rhythms and sounds. Through a mixture of chants, footsteps, and hand claps these groups will amuse and excite the crowd of all ages.

“We are very excited to include the PNC Greek Step Show as part of our dynamic Cleveland Classic weekend. We anticipate a great crowd will come out to watch this cultural, energetic show that is sure to deliver strong performances,” stated David Gilbert, President and CEO of the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission.

The sorority and fraternity groups will be competing for cash prizes totaling $8,000. Judging categories will include introduction, creativity and originality, complexity, synchronization, and group exit.

To add to the excitement of this high energy event, DJ Lo-Key will be the disc jockey for the night. Lo-Key has performed alongside numerous well-known celebrities such as Russell Simons, Ricky Smiley, Busta Rhymes, Outkast and more. Central State University Alum and in-arena announcer for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Ahmaad Crump, will be hosting the evening alongside Kym Whitley. Crump is known for his hyped-up energy and enthusiasm while hosting the NBA All-Star Game in 2010 and 2011. Whitley is an actress and comedian who is best known for her roles in the movie “Next Friday” and shows such as “That’s So Raven” and “The Parkers”. She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Tickets to the PNC Greek Step Show are now on sale and can be purchased for $18.00 for individuals and $15.00 per person for groups of 20 or more (service fee additional). The Greater Cleveland Sports Commission will kick off the first annual Cleveland Classic HBCU football game presented by McDonald’s on September 10, 2011 where Central State University will battle North Carolina Central University at Cleveland Browns Stadium. The Cleveland Classic presented by McDonald’s is more than just a football game. It’s an entire weekend full of dynamic activities and events for all ages while celebrating premier historically black universities. It’s an entire weekend full of festivities including a College Readiness Fair by College Now, PNC Greek Step Show, Tailgate Party presented by University Hospitals, Key Bank Marching Band Half-time Show and the Cleveland Classic game presented by McDonald’s.
