George Mason University hosts the first concert in Peace in the Middle East series to promote peace and tolerance 3/27/2011. The event is organized by local independent musicians with a portion of proceeds donated to Children of Peace.

Washington D.C. (I-Newswire) March 1, 2011 - A group of like-minded independent musicians and dancers of Middle Eastern heritage have launched the "Peace in the Middle East Concert Series" to promote peace and tolerance between Arabs and Israelis. Musicians and dancers from New York, Baltimore and DC have joined together to take part in this solidarity movement as a show of strength of the peaceful movement growing amongst youth today.

With the peace negotiations and political discourse at a stand still, the organizers of this event are seizing the opportunity to keep the dialogue open and bring about serious social change. The concert series will feature Arab and Israeli artists and speakers working together on stage. With social change in mind, the concert series will be donating a portion of proceed to the UK based charity, Children of Peace, a non-partisan charity dedicated to building friendship, trust and reconciliation between Israeli and Palestinian children, aged 4 - 17, and their communities through the arts, education, health and sports programs.

"This series is a great way to bring people together and shed light on the people's relationship that you don't see in the news." says Khaled Dajani, founder of the series. "We believe music is the perfect medium to heal and unite and through this universal form of communication we hope to strengthen the hope for peace in the region. I am thankful for the artists who are helping with this and the great feed back we've received."
