Parrish FL Charitable Groups – Named Beneficiaries of a Parrish Foundation Project

Parrish FL (I-Newswire) October 23, 2011 - Parrish FL seems to be a home of generous-hearted people and a community with an admirable sense of dedication to give. This was seen by the board members of the Parrish Foundation, who, three months ago decided to establish a Grant Fund that would award money to the many charitable groups serving Parrish area residents.

The Parrish Foundation recently launched a fun raising campaign that gives opportunities to Parrish local businesses, Parrish home owners and residents to assist these charitable groups. In line with this, the Parrish Civic Association is planning an annual Parrish Festival which will be both a fun and exciting time for Parrish FL residents and to raise money that will fund the grant program. The first event will be held on Saturday March 10, 2012, at the Florida Railroad Museum immediately after the Heritage Day parade. Its highlights will be live entertainment, a petting zoo and games for the kids. Of course there’s one of the most exciting part of the event- a Chili Cook Off featuring local teams competing for the exciting “Best Chili in Parrish” award. The event encourages a lot of participation from the locals. The more participation they solicit, the more support they could get for the many charitable organizations in the community.

The Parrish Foundation’s humble beginnings could be traced back in 2009. As a 501 (c) 3 corporation, its initial goal was to get a Branch of the Manatee County YMCA established in Parrish. With the help of a partnership with Manatee County government and the Y, they were able to accomplish their goal. Now, the old school house in Parrish serves as the Parrish Branch of the Manatee County YMCA as well as a Community Center for residents. This was what they pursued before they moved on to the grant fund program, which they are carrying out now.

According to the Parrish Foundation Director and President Hugh E. McGuire, Jr. , he has lived in Parrish most of his life and has seen a giving community in Parrish. In his words, he furthered how altruistic the Parrish FL locals are. “Even in these tough economic times, area residents rally to assist individuals and families living through rough circumstances. But in addition to individuals and families, there are a number of not for profit organizations either based in Parrish or serving residents of the Parrish area that have seen the funds they so desperately need disappear, and many are struggling just to keep their doors open. “
