ParetoLogic Privacy Controls Protects Windows 8 User Privacy

ParetoLogic’s privacy file scrubbing application Privacy Controls has been scanned and tested for Windows 8 compatibility. The software gives users an easy way to maintain their digital privacy and security.

Victoria, B.C. (I-Newswire) October 29, 2012 - Windows 8 may offer users a variety of ways to get online and share, but one security vendor is ready to protect the privacy risks that come with this. ParetoLogic’s Privacy Controls software is fully compatible with Windows 8, and offers users a reliable way to ensure that their personal data remains private.

“Most users don’t think about how much personal information their system records. Windows 8 is much the same – with the emphasis on online sharing, there’s even more at risk here than before,” said Gary Theobald, ParetoLogic Senior Director of Business Operations. “There are matters of passwords and usernames, as well as browsing history and download history.”

User information has proven to be increasingly enticing for cyber-criminals in recent years. Identity theft, credit card fraud, or public embarrassment can face those PC users who do not clean their systems of private data. This data could be stolen through hacks, malware attacks, or simply theft of the user’s PC.

Privacy Controls, initially released in 2006, has continually been on the cutting edge of privacy protection. Available for Windows Vista and Windows 7 at launch, the privacy software was also compatible with Windows 8 well before the operating system reached consumers. With an easy-to-use scan, any user can quickly scan the full range of their system for personal data and, at a click, remove it permanently. Along with this, Privacy Controls also features an Advanced Shred function, which deletes specific files with no chance of recovery.

“Yes, some programs allow you to manually remove specific user data, and you can always just delete a file. However, this is neither practical nor reliable. In order to ensure that your personal information does not come back to haunt you, we strongly advise that all Windows 8 users set up an automatic scan with Privacy Controls.”

Theobald also recommended that new Windows 8 users try a free download and scan of Privacy Controls, to see what potential privacy risks are on their PCs.
