Panasonic, the Japanese electronics maker, unveils a new lineup of cameras with 3D features and the company feels that 3D photography is not a gimmick.

New York, USA (I-Newswire) March 14, 2011 - Panasonic, the Japanese electronics giant, has installed 3D functionality into a new line of its Lumix digital cameras which are due to hit the shelves in March. In an interview with a photographic magazine, Panasonic Lumix product manager Mark Robinson said that Panasonic sees 'huge potential for 3D'.

Panasonic’s Lumix DMC-TZ20 or ZS10, as it’s popularly known in North America, is a travel zoom camera will have a new 3D photo mode. The 3D mode generates 3D data in the MPO format which is why it’s expected to be compatible with most 3D TV sets. In an 'ever-crowded marketplace' Mr Robinson predicts a rosy future for 3D photography, “where compact camera users tap into its potential to document special occasions, such as weddings.” The camera takes 20 panning shots and automatically chooses from it 2 images that are appropriate to generate a 3D image.

Lumix DMC-TZ20 has won huge popularity because of its versatile lens from ultra wide-angle to long zoom. It features a broader 16x optical zoom range, higher resolution movie recording at 1080i, touch screen and enhanced GPS capabilities.

The company recently launched the Lumix DMC-GH2, the latest member of the G-series cameras in Middle East. It comes with a 6MP multi-aspect LIVE MOS sensor and an all-new Venus Engine FHD processor and features a 14mm~140mm HD Lumix. It’s also “packed with features packed with features that allow customers to get creative and to take high quality videos and photos with ease including shooting in 3D,” Ojha said”, said Hitesh Ojha, Senior Manager of Sales and Marketing – AV Categories, Panasonic Marketing Middle East.
