Even Without Sunshine It Is Never Too Early In The Season Or To Late For Anyone to Start Swim Lessons and Learn About Water Safety

(I-Newswire) April 12, 2010 - PALO ALTO, CA – April 12, 2010 – The Palo Alto Family YMCA announced today that registration for its spring swim registration sessions is now officially open. Parents and their children can choose from a variety of swim lessons being offered by visiting http://www.ymcasv.org/paloalto/html/programs_aquatics.html
“While the weather may still be cold and overcast, it is always a good time to take a swim lesson at the YMCA,” said Melissa Bryden, Youth Aquatic Director of the Palo Alto Family YMCA. “With our two award-winning indoor swimming pools, our swimmers never have to worry about what the weather is like outside!”
For those who want to learn to swim or work on their technique, the Palo Alto Family YMCA offers a variety of aquatic programs to fit the need of every individual and family member. From parent-child swim classes starting at 3 years through kindergarten, sessions for first to fifth graders, teen aquatic classes, adult swim lessons and water fitness classes for those who just want to get in shape for Spring and beyond, everyone can select the regimen that best suits their needs.

Drowning is a leading cause of injury-related deaths in children under five years old, according to the State of California’s website for Department of Developmental Services. Additionally, according to the website, accidents that result in near-drowning incidents result in life-long disabilities, happen the most with individuals 19 to 30 years of age. The Palo Alto Family YMCA hopes to continue to educate families and raise water safety awareness throughout the local community, to help ensure that families are safe when participating in water-related activities this Spring.
