Orta Restaurant Supports The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition

Pembroke, MA (I-Newswire) September 11, 2012 - Orta Restaurant has a lot to celebrate. With new owners Brett and Cara Williams at the helm, the popular restaurant boasts new buzz about their philanthropic campaign that will run throughout the month of September to support the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC).

For the month of September, Orta guests will be able to donate five dollars to the NOCC and receive a small bottle of Prosecco as a token of appreciation. The restaurant is grateful to their sponsoring partner, Bacardi, who is donating half the bottles to help boost Orta’s charitable campaign.

Orta Restaurant has a long history of philanthropic endeavors with previous owner Jimmy Burke. Brett and Cara have vowed to continue with those efforts and wanted to add the NOCC to the list. In 2003, Cara lost her mother, Judy Snelders of Scituate, to a battle with ovarian cancer.

“I have had so many celebrations this summer with the birth of my second son, Luca, and the purchase of Orta. I can’t help but miss the presence of my mother,” says Cara. She adds, “Partnering with the NOCC this month allows my family to honor my mom and make her a part of this experience.”

The Orta staff will be showing their support by adorning the Ovarian Cancer Awareness teal colored ribbons to their uniforms all month. This will be the first annual fundraiser to support Ovarian Cancer Awareness efforts and one that the restaurant hopes to make bigger each year.
