Ophthalmologist Named Top Doctor

In September, Dr. Nauheim was named to the Consumers' Research Council of America "Guide to America's Top Ophthalmologists" for the third consecutive year.

Prominent ophthalmologist Richard Nauheim, MD has been selected for inclusion in the 15th edition of Top Doctors: New York Metro Area. Published by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., the acclaimed guide spotlights the top 10 percent of primary care and specialty care physicians in the tri-state New York area.

Dr. Nauheim is listed in the "Ophthalmology" section of the Castle Connolly guide. Doctors listed in its Top Doctors series of guides are selected after peer nomination, extensive research and careful review and screening.

The Castle Connolly physician-led research team reviews criteria including the medical education, training, hospital appointments and disciplinary history of each nominee. Doctors do not and can not pay to be included in a Castle Connolly guide or list.

This is the second honor that Dr. Nauheim, chief of ophthalmology at South Nassau Communities Hospital, has received in as many months. In September, he was named to the Consumers' Research Council of America "Guide to America's Top Ophthalmologists" for the third consecutive year.

Dr. Nauheim specializes in treating problems such as double vision, optic nerve disorders, visual/eye movement disorders, cataracts, diseases of the retina, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma and macular degeneration.

Dr. Nauheim is active in research, lecturing and publishing papers on ophthalmology and is on the teaching faculty at North Shore University Hospital and Nassau University Medical Center. He has presented at national and international institutions and meetings, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the New York Academy of Medicine. He has been published in prestigious peer reviewed journals such as the Archives of Ophthalmology.
