On the Road to Autonomous Driving, Aerostar Industry Co. Announces Cost-Effective LIDAR and Video Fusion ADAS

Aerostar Industry Co. today announced that its proprietary and cost-effective LIDAR and video fusion ADAS should play a major role in providing nearly autonomous driving in the not-too-distant future.

Aerostar Industry Co. today announced that its LIDAR and video fusion ADAS should play a major role in providing nearly autonomous driving in the not-too-distant future. LIDAR avoids many of the problems inherent with existing radar systems. While radar is prone to EMI, frequency interference and may have FCC or other country's governmental regulatory difficulties due to spectrum allocation, LIDAR has none of these issues. Among its many advantages, LIDAR, with the use of eye- and skin-safe pulses of light, provides a much cleaner way to deal with false positive interference. LIDAR works almost like a bionic version of the human eye - understanding volume, exact object distance and with the ability to track multiple objects simultaneously.

Aerostar's LIDAR system can also be easily integrated with and complements next generation 3D navigation systems, bringing autonomous driving one step closer to reality.

In the past, cost of LIDAR has been a concern, but Aerostar's proprietary system provides a simple, and most of all, cost-effective solution. Over the coming months, Aerostar will announce several product milestones currently in testing.

"Autonomous driving or nearly autonomous driving is much closer than people realize," said Jay Young Wee, Vice President of Aerostar Industry Co. According to Mr. Wee, although the technology barriers to autonomous driving seem ready to be broken down, it remains to be seen how readily the consumer will adopt the technology. "Most studies have shown that the younger driver, who is very comfortable and used to assistive technology, is more inclined to release control of the car to ADAS," stated Mr. Wee. "And our system, with over 20 years of developmental history, is bringing that reality closer each day."
