Nuxeo Document Management Now Offers Digital Signature Option

Boston, MA (I-Newswire) June 10, 2011 - Nuxeo, the Open Source Enterprise Content Management (ECM) platform company, now offers a Digital Signature add-on for its flagship Open Source Document Management software, Nuxeo DM. Based on the X.509 standard, the new component provides a secure electronic method for signing PDF files in Nuxeo DM and verifying the signatures with a digital certificate in a PDF reader.

When used with Nuxeo Document Management, the Digital Signature option helps to ensure compliance and audit trails, and replaces paper-intensive signing with more efficient electronic processes. Content and information architects and developers who require a digital signing mechanism that provides user authentication and document integrity verification will benefit from this new option, that helps organizations move towards the goal of a paperless office.

The Digital Signature component provides a standards-compliant mechanism for adding user-specific digital signatures to PDF documents, so that any print-and-sign paper processes can be replaced with electronic signing, storage and retrieval document management processes. The add-on:

- creates password-protected, reusable digital certificates for Nuxeo DM users,
- enables multiple Nuxeo DM users to digitally sign a PDF document,
- attaches digital certificates to documents, for subsequent verification of the signature by an external PDF reader.

Non-Connect subscribers can sign up for a free trial, offering access to Nuxeo Marketplace, with a full range of plugins and packages, and to Nuxeo Studio, the customization and configuration environment for Nuxeo platform-based applications.
