Nova Design Selected as Partner for £12.5m London Eye Capsule Upgrade

Nova Design proud to be chosen to assist in the London Eye capsule upgrade, to be done in time for the London 2012 Olympics.

Kingswinford (I-Newswire) October 20, 2010 - Nova Design were selected as a partner for The Merlin Entertainments £12.5m capsule upgrade of the London Eye, Britain’s most popular paid-for visitor attraction. Starting in 2009, the Eye’s 32 capsules are currently being taken off one at a time to be refurbished in time for the 2012 London Olympics.

A number of upgrades will be incorporated including a minor visual facelift. Additionally, one capsule will be equipped with an enhanced multi-media system, music and on screen visual displays via four ceiling mounted screens.

All capsules are switching to a more energy efficient, environmentally friendly system by upgrading the heating and ventilation, which Nova are delighted to have been a part of.

As part of the refurbishment, Nova supported UK Loco in the design of handling equipment during the overhaul. Nova were also selected as a partner for the non-operational capsule which will be in place whilst each capsule is sent away to be upgraded. The London Eye celebrated its 10th Birthday this year and has welcomed over 38.5 million people since opening in 2000.
