Alexandria, VA (I-Newswire) August 18, 2011 - As the Commonwealth prepares to elect dozens of state delegates and senators, Northern Virginia Black Chamber of Commerce is gearing up to deliver Candidates’ Night 2011 on Wednesday, September 21, 2011, 5:30-8:00 pm at the Springfield Hilton.

Last year the nonpartisan NVBCC Candidates’ Night Mixer gave black-owned businesses and the greater Black Community the opportunity to engage with 25 candidates and elected officials from four political parties.

“Candidates’ Night is an opportunity for members of the Black Community to express their concerns about the future of Northern Virginia and ensure their voices are heard,” notes NVBCC chairwoman Gaea L. Honeycutt. “Economic recovery, government contracting opportunities, small business assistance, access to capital and hiring incentives are among the many issues our members are concerned about this year.”

Unique to Northern Virginia, the annual Candidates’ Night Mixer ensures that all candidates and elected officials have an opportunity to listen to concerns in the Black Community and engage voters – Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Green and independents. The NOVA Coalition will be present to register voters. In addition, government agencies that serve businesses have been invited to present and share resources and information, including the IRS, SBA and Virginia Department of Minority Business Enterprise.
