(Rancho Mirage, CA)- At one of the year's most exciting live events, a star-studded panel of judges chose Miss Sherwood USA, Nicole Johnson as MISS CALIFORNIA USA® 2010. Tami Farrell, MISS CALIFORNIA USA® 2009, was also crowned on stage due to her mid-reign succession of Carrie Prejean.
The evening featured multiple references to the controversy surrounding Prejean, Perez Hilton, Larry King, Donald Trump and TMZ.

Johnson had competed once before in the MISS CALIFORNIA USA® competition in 2007 and was the 1st runner-up. Johnson will move on to compete at the 59th MISS USA® pageant. It will be held at the Theatre for the Performing Arts in Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas on April 18, 2010.

Chris Jacobs (The Insider) hosted the event with backstage correspondent, Shanna Moakler at the Agua Caliente Casino Resort and Spa in Rancho Mirage, California where 133 contestants from across the state of California participated in. Celebrity Judges for the event included: AJ Buckley (CSI, Bones), Claudia Jordan (Celebrity Apprentice), Dr. Frank Ryan (Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon to the Stars), Kelly Monaco (DWTS, General Hospital), Hill Harper (CSI, The Handler), Randall Slavin (Celebrity Photographer), Shandi Finnessey (DWTS, Celebrity Apprentice), Tony Bowls (Fashion Designer), Lu Parker (Emmy Award Winning Journalist), Francine Champagne (Owner Vision Models), Tiffany Fallon (Miss Georgia USA 2001), David Fendrick (COO of Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians).
