NJCTS Presents Study Skills Webinar Sept. 30

The New Jersey Center for Tourette Syndrome presents free "Study Skills for Success" webinar on Wednesday, September 30th from 7:30-8:30 Eastern

(I-Newswire) September 18, 2009 - The New Jersey Center for Tourette Syndrome and Associated Disorders, Inc. presents Study Skills for Success- Wednesday, September 30 from 7:30- 8:30 p.m. The presentation is a free webinar as part of NJCTS’s ongoing Wednesday Webinar series.

The event will be led by Cheryl Ludwig, a speech language pathologist and will provide information to help families create a positive homework experience by shaping the environment and schedule. This presentation will also focus on study strategies to help children retain daily learning. Creative and flexible teaching techniques for the professional educator will be discussed as well. The end goal is to develop a partnership between teachers, students and parents to foster a successful school year. A question and answer period will take place after the presentation with input from Janine Howley, a masters-level special education teacher. Both facilitators are parents of adult children with Tourette Syndrome.

Tourette Syndrome is a neurological disorder characterized by involuntary motor and vocal movements known as tics. Children with Tourette Syndrome often have associated conditions including learning disabilities, depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive and attention deficit disorders. Tourette Syndrome in and of itself presents a challenge to students in the classroom setting, any combination of associated conditions only exacerbates a child’s inability to concentrate. The strategies and tips presented in this Wednesday Webinar are designed with these setbacks in mind.


Professional development credits will be offered for this webinar. There is no charge to attend this session and a toll-free number will be provided to listen to the audio portion of the presentation. The video portion of the presentation can be viewed by logging on to a website which will be provided at registration.
