New Works By Charles Dickens discovered
Collection of previously unknown poetry made available to public online
Online, August 26, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Researchers in Scotland have uncovered dozens of previously unknown works by Charles Dickens. Although the Victorian writer is most commonly associated with his hugely popular novels such as Oliver Twist and Bleak house, the newly discovered works are examples of one of his lesser known outlets - poetry.
The poems take the form of Haiku - a style of poetry originating in Japan and consisting of just seventeen syllables. This makes the find all the more remarkable as the poems were written between 1833 and 1870, long before the form was popularized in the west.
