Atlanta (I-Newswire) November 4, 2010 - A new website aims to help acne sufferers find appropriate treatments.

"It can be very confusing to sort through all the misinformation about acne. For some people, after trying the normal course of action like antibiotics, acne does not go away. What are their acne treatments that work?" asks Peter Hailey, webmaster of http://www.acnetreatments-thatwork.com/

"We have set out to show the whole spectrum of options people with acne can choose from. Some people respond best to dermatologist prescribed medicine - and that's great. But for the estimated 40% of people whose acne does not quickly clear up, those folks have a much harder road," he adds.

The new site will have detailed information about the most popular over-the-counter acne treatments, herbal remedies, and lifestyle suggestions. People will also be able to post their own reviews and provide honest feedback about what works for them.

Hailey says that "For the longest time, people have claimed that lifestyle choices did not affect acne in adults or teenagers. We think this is the wrong approach. For example, recent studies by the San Gallicano Dermatological Institute show smokers have a 400% higher rate of acne than non-smokers. It's simple suggestions such as this one that we hope to provide people on our site."

The site is undergoing development right now. Hailey says they hope to have a full database online by the end of the year so they can help people's New Year resolutions to beat acne.
