SharePoint Solutions is offering a new four-day, hands-on classroom-based training course titled Introduction to SharePoint 2010-Using SharePoint Server 2010, which covers the basic concepts and features of SharePoint Server 2010. Classes will be held March 22-25 in Nashville, Tenn.; April 19-22 in Chicago, Ill.; and May 17-20 in Dallas, Texas. Cost of the course is $2,395, which includes tuition and course materials.

The course assumes that the student has no familiarity with this or any previous version of SharePoint, which makes it the perfect starting place for people new to SharePoint who will be using SharePoint Server 2010 in their work. It covers the features common to all editions of SharePoint 2010 (free and paid), and explores the powerful additional functionality that only the paid editions of SharePoint Server 2010 (SPS2010) Standard Edition and Enterprise Edition provide.

Introduction to SharePoint 2010-Using SharePoint Server 2010 is intended for:
• SharePoint site owners
• Project managers
• Department managers
• Trainers
• Help-desk and end-user support professionals
• IT professionals who are interested in the out-of-the-box functionality and features
• CIOs and IT managers who are considering implementing SharePoint in their environments
• Anyone who will be using either edition of SharePoint Server 2010 at work

The typical environments that these professionals work in can vary greatly from very small organizations with just a few employees to very large organizations with thousands of employees and multiple locations.

"In just four days students will go from knowing little or nothing about SharePoint Server 2010 to having the skill and confidence to use it effectively every day," said Ricky Spears, SharePoint Solutions' senior instructor and author of Introduction to SharePoint 2010-Using SharePoint Server 2010.

The course's content is divided into two parts. On days one and two, students will learn the core concepts of what SharePoint is all about, how to use it to share information with others and how to use it to facilitate collaboration within teams. The features that are covered are applicable to all versions of SharePoint including SharePoint Foundation 2010, which is the free version of SharePoint.

On days three and four, students will learn about the features of SharePoint Server 2010 that make it a powerful platform for enterprise content management with automation (workflow), personalization (My Sites), enterprise search and more.
