New Pump To Power The Wind Industry

Online, April 14, 2014 (Newswire.com) - A new electric driven hydraulic pump is available from Boltight that is designed to meet the specific needs of the wind industry. The pump is driven by an electric power supply for working in remote locations. Lightweight, extremely portable and easy to carry, the standalone power pack is ideal for tensioning foundation bolts or working on wind turbines at height. It is available now with various options for purchase and/or rental.

The new pump also has applications in other industries where access is compromised or where there is no air supply for hydraulic tools. While the power pack is perfectly matched to Boltight's Typhoon range of wind tools, it can also be used with other makes or models of bolt tensioner.

Built around a steel frame with anti-slip rubber feet, the pump, reservoir and motor combine into one easily handled package. The 0.75kW rated pump is driven by a 220-240 volt single-phase electric motor and delivers an operating pressure of 1500 bar. A 110-volt motor is available as an option as well as 2500 bar operating pressure versions.

The pump is pressurised in two stages. The low-pressure stage is factory set to provide a high volume oil flow for rapid piston extension and seal energising. When higher pressure is required the pump automatically switches to the high pressure, low volume mode. The high oil flow ensures the pump reaches the desired operating pressure very quickly.

Easy to use and maintain, the pump is equipped with an industrial inline oil filter. It has a manually adjustable pressure relief valve for easy setting of the maximum working pressure. It is also fitted with an internal pressure safety valve.

The pump is fitted with a universal quick connect coupling, a glycerine filled damped pressure gauge and an oil sight glass. It also features a fully functional remote control with a 5m cable. The unit measures 450mm x 320mm x 430mm and weighs 37.5kg when filled to the maximum with 5 litres of hydraulic oil.
